Our firm operates with a flexible, highly specialized structure. While our core team remains intentionally small, we collaborate with a trusted network of junior designers, technical experts, and procurement specialists — bringing in the right support for each project to ensure every design is tailored, seamless, and expertly executed.

Meet Maya

Founder & Principal Designer

With degrees in graphic design and architecture, a decade-long career in visual merchandising for a major NYC retailer, I bring both creative vision and strategic management to every home we design.

Over the past six years, I’ve built Maya Axt Interiors into a trusted name for warm, timeless interiors that feel as good as they look. While clients are often drawn to our signature aesthetic, they stay with us (and return to us) for the experience: thoughtful guidance, clear communication, and design tailored with intention to their lifestyle.

When I’m not hunting down the perfect accent chair, you’ll likely find me at my daughter Emma’s basketball games, cooking a new recipe for dinner, or watching one of our many favorite shows with my husband, Brian and our goldendoodle, Gryffi.

Getting to know Maya

  • I was born in Israel and raised in Miami, surrounded by my large Argentinian family.

  • I speak Spanish, which makes for smooth communication with contractors and trades here in Phoenix.

  • I come from a family of entrepreneurs, whether making and selling my own jewelry at 12 years old, selling homemade bread in high school, doing freelance graphic design work as a college student, or finally opening up Maya Axt Interiors, that entrepreneurial spirit has always been front and center.

  • Oh, and our dog’s name is actually short for Gryffindor Hagrid (IYKYK).

Meet Kerstin

Project / procurement manager

Kerstin grew up in the Valley of the Sun and graduated from the University of Arizona. She spent the majority of her career in marketing and event management. She truly loves working on projects and seeing them come together - especially the final result.

In her personal time, she enjoys hanging out with her husband, 17 year old Puggle and three children.
